Buying the Last Ticket
This magnificent theater in Riverdale, Ut is slated to be demolished tomorrow.
I had the opportunity to enter it yesterday to literally "Ring Down the Curtain." With my ginghers (my best sewing scissors--expensive silver-ish scissors) I cut down enough of the fabric from the curtains over the screens to make many quilts. As I did this I had El Jay's DVD player playing the last movie to be shown in the Cinedome.
In this image is Nancy Tullis whose husband was one of the partners who built this building back in 1970.Nancy ran the Cinedome after her husband and BIL died in a plane crash in the mid 70's. It was often Nancy who was in the ticket booth to sell tickets; but she did it all, where and when needed, from the tickets to the concession stand to the projection booth to even playing the theatre organ in the lobby...
I am in Riverdale at my parents' home and using my dad's laptop. He doesn't have a great program for processing images. I will edit what I take once I am home on Thursday. To see my SOOC images: http://indigodreams.smugmug.com/2010/Cinedome-October/14146249_GijXB#1043468224_BX7kX
