The last picture show.
I am exhausted and will tell the story another time.
I am in Utah. I decided to make the trip about two-hours before I left the house. I am out of school for Fall break... I have so many emotions. This is the first time I have been able to leave the Land of Entrapment (OK, Enchantment) without getting a court order. I am glad I can visit my parents as often as I like now... but the price of freedom--not in dollars, but emotionally and physically--was so high....
I also made the trip to get some of the fabric from the Cinedome before it is demolished. I plan to make some quilts or pillows or even a teddy Bear or two.... I wanted to make sure I got what I wanted and the only way to do that was to come to Utah and do it myself. It reminds me of when I did special event planning and occasionally we would have to go back after the event and "strike the set."
I had a lot of photo ideas running thru my mind as I thought of going to the Cinedome now. I thought of Scarlett in Gone with the Wnd in the curtain scene.... This picture represents literally playing the final movie.... and as I cut the fabric over the stage/screen area the saying, "Ring Down the Curtain," played over and over in my mind....that the curtain was coming down or closing for the last time.... and I was glad I was saving a small piece of what was once an amazing theater.
I have two BIG photo assignments due when I go back to school. The one for visual photo is a constructed image assignment--I have to produce five images that are constructed and have a common theme. The teacher suggested i build on the BRA project, but I may be able to somehow use this event.... the other is for photo journalism. I either need do something involving an event or a section of RT 66.... I'm not sure the professor would consider this to be an event...?
